What is the effect of limestone powder on the performance of concrete? Many studies have proved that when the fineness and quality control of limestone powder is not good, limestone powder is difficult to play its own activity-not only can not increase the early strength of the concrete, but will make the strength decline. However, when the fineness of limestone powder is well controlled, the activity of limestone will be brought into play. The strength and workability of concrete will be greatly improved if limestone powder is added properly. And Why? Because the limestone powder particles are fine enough to enter the porosity of cement hydration products, this is also known as “micro aggregate effect” , so that strength has been improved. At the same time, the latent activity of limestone powder can promote the hydration of C3S during the hydration of cement, thereby improving the strength of concrete. Limestone powder is hydrophilic. When cement particles are hydrated, it can break the cement mass and release water, thus improving the fluidity of concrete mixture.
That is to say, limestone powder can be a kind of helpful material in concrete usage.
